June Whitebird

A tiny, quiet fishing village on an island in Puget Sound has suddenly become the murder capital of the world as “The corpses are piling up like cordwood!” an exasperated police chief Harry Snyder exclaims. The mysterious deaths are fodder for the world-wide news tabloids that send reporters from around the globe to feed the frenzy of their readers’ appetite for a gruesome story. Puncture marks on the necks of the victims puzzle the coroner as he searches for their causes of death.
June Whitebird Winston, the beautiful Irish-Native American and world renowned hematologist is a resident of the town and is called upon to help solve the deaths of the bloodless victims. As the populace of the town becomes involved in the bizarre shocking happenings; individual traits and behaviors surface. When a virulent sudden change in the normal weather patterns bring a calamitous firestorm to the village of Langston, confusion and disorder in the little town reaches its peak. Utter pandemonium reigns, and the story comes to an unexpected conclusion.
